The HydraFacial is a medical-grade resurfacing treatment that clears out your pores, plus it hydrates your skin. It’s offered across the country at licensed medical professional facilities, or where a certified HydraFacial esthetician is present. A HydraFacial is a facial treatment using a patented device to deliver exfoliation, cleansing, extraction, and hydration to the face. This system uses a vortex swirling action to deliver hydration and to remove dead skin, dirt, debris, and impurities while cleaning and soothing your skin.

Both treatments are considered as forms of exfoliation; chemical peels are, well, a chemical exfoliation while microdermabrasion is a physical exfoliation. During a microderm, a little vacuum like device is used to gently exfoliate and suck up dead skin cells, helping to promote the growth of new and healthy skin. It also helps to brighten, smooth out texture, even skin tone, refine pores, fine lines and wrinkles, and minimize the appearance of superficial dark spots. Zero downtime is required. A chemical peel can also be done to treat fine lines, wrinkles, superficial discoloration, and improve the overall look and feel of the skin. A chemical peel, Cosmedix peels in our case, use a mixture of fruit extracts, enzymes, and various forms of acid to dissolve and break down the bond of dead skin to promote flaking or shedding. Little to no downtime is required, depending on the peel level. Both provide better results in a series of treatments.

The esthetician providing your service will do a complete evaluation of your skin to determine which treatment will be the most beneficial for your wants and concerns.

The answer is yes, for the most part. Each of our Cosmedix peels have varying levels of intensity. The esthetician providing your service will tell you whether you are a good candidate and what treatments are right for you.

If you need any facial waxing at the time of your appointment, or you have gotten waxed in the days prior to your appointment, please speak up before the service begins. This way we can take the proper precautions to protect your skin! Avoid waxing for at least three days after an exfoliative treatment as the top layer of your skin was just taken from you, your skin will be more sensitive.

Wear SPF and stay out of direct UVA/UVB rays, including but not limited to tanning beds and the sun. We’re not just saying this because we’re estheticians and dislike the sun, we’re saying this because we care. Direct exposure to sunshine or any other UVA/UVB ray may cause even more sun damage, fine lines/wrinkles, dryness, etc. The exact problems you are trying to address.

Avoid waxing/sugaring for at least 3 days.

Avoid products containing Retinol, Retin-A, AHAs/BHAs for at least 3-5 days, before and after the treatment.

If you do experience flaking or peeling, do not pick or pull! Resist the urge. If you do, you could potentially cause even more damage.

Depending on your skin type and the intensity of damage or concerns, we recommend treatments every 4 to 6 weeks for best results

Dermaplaning is a skin care treatment that gently removes dead skin cells and unwanted vellus hair (peach fuzz) with a small, sterile blade. The esthetician holds the skin taut, and swipes the blade in gentle upward motions. It is completely painless and requires no downtime. Dermaplaning creates an extremely smooth baby butt-like canvas that promotes better product absorption. With continuous treatments, it can improve skin texture and tone, refines pores, and since it increases your cell turnover (new skin all the time, woohoo!), it can diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and superficial acne scarring.

In a way, dermaplaning is like shaving, but it is also so much more. Since dermaplaning uses a very fine blade, it gets closer to the surface, removing the hair and dead skin. It is like a very, very close shave. And no, your hair will not grow back thicker since we are not altering the hair in anyway, just “shaving” it down. That is an urban legend.
